Job: Rock Voices Choir Director Job-type: Part time with growth potential Locations: Various MA, RI, NH, and NY locations Salary: Paid position. (Inquire for details.) JOB DESCRIPTION Non-traditional choral director with “rock” chops. Must be musical, energetic, patient, and charismatic. Will lead a community rock choir rehearsal one night a week, with a concert at the end of a 12-week season. PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS - Music degree (Preferred but not required) either completed or in progress, in one of the following areas: choral conducting, music education, vocal performance, piano performance is preferred - Prior experience teaching private and/or group voice lessons, classes, or ensembles - Must be proficient on piano/keyboard and be able to read a ‘lead sheet’ * If you think you would be a good fit but you don’t satisfy all of the requirements listed, apply anyway and let us decide. YOU WILL THRIVE IN THIS POSITION IF: - you have a healthy sense of humor - you are sensitive and aware of different learning styles - you are kind, humble, and able to check your ego at door - you have great organizational skills - you have a working knowledge of popular & rock musical styles and repertoire - you own a digital keyboard/piano w/ speaker for rehearsals - you can confidently lead a small rock band/pit band - you are responsive and effective with written communication, especially email ABOUT ROCK VOICES We are a network of community choirs that sing rock music. Our directors come from a wide range of backgrounds and they all have one thing in common: a love of popular music and a desire to share it with people. As one of our directors, you will be changing peoples’ lives as well as expanding your own appreciation for music and how it brings us all together. PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT 12-week Spring Session (Beginning January 2024) Continued employment dependent upon performance review after the first season.
