Register in advance for this Zoom session: https://rb.gy/evfj2 After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. This year's art song will be “Within Thy Heart” by New Hampshire composer Amy Beach. This Zoom session will provide attendees with an introduction to materials, solo vocal performance demonstration, and discussion of technical and musical considerations to help your singers prepare for the audition. The session will conclude with a Q&A session. -- This session will feature Kate Klingel, a New Hampshire based musician with over 20 years of experience across the country and abroad. She graduated from Arizona State University with a B.A. in Vocal Performance with a focus in German lieder and art songs. After completing her bachelors, Kate became the Resident Teaching Artist for the Arizona Opera where she worked with local school systems to study the stories behind arias and art songs so students could appreciate the music beyond the language barrier. Since moving back to New Hampshire in 2009, Kate has been teaching private voice, piano, and flute lessons. In addition, she has led countless summer masterclasses to prepare students for Jazz and Classical All State Festival auditions that focused on not only the repertoire but also deepening sight-reading skill sets. Currently, Kate sings as a Soprano with the NH Master Chorale and as a hired soloist for church choirs in Nashua, Gilford, and Wolfeboro. In her spare time, Kate enjoys time with her husband, Adam and her two sons, Gavin and Holden. We are excited to announce that Ellie Samuelson is the first ever recipient of free scores through the NH ACDA Diverse Repertoire Initiative!
Ellie will be receiving 50 copies of Shine on Me (SSA) arranged by Rollo Dilworth. After this repertoire has been taught and performed, it will be put into the NH Choral Library for other music educators to access! |
