Allison Aldrich studied music education and choral conducting at the Boston University College of Fine Arts. She has been a church choir director, community song leader and taught elementary general music in the public schools for 25 years. She performed in the Revels of Hanover, NH and Cambridge, MA, and his been very influenced by that experience.
In 1997 she founded Animaterra Women’s Chorus of Keene, NH. They are a non-auditioned community chorus singing music of the world’s traditions. This year they are celebrating 16 years of joyful singing together! Allison follows the philosophy of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network and gives voice lessons that apply holistic principles to help singers fully develop their own natural voice.
Allison is also very active in the traditional music and dance of New England and beyond. She performs in a duo with her husband, Hunt Smith, singing and playing for schools, libraries, and more.
She is also a contra dance and English Country Dance caller, and teaches folk dance at the Monadnock Waldorf School in Keene, NH.
Allison lives in Nelson, NH.
